What a first meeting of the year, full of action and some great racing. Look back later in the week for a full report on some great riding and a bit of crashing too. Kev really gets the year off with a bang, literally.
28th February '08
The first test of the year went well despite a very windy day at Oulton. A damp start slowed things down but a dry afternoon saw Kev put in some good work on the new bike, although further testing is needed before Brands next month. Any further testing dates will be published here first.

The substantial rise in entry fees has meant that we are now looking for a new title sponsor. If you feel that you or your business would rather put some profits our way rather than the taxman's please get in touch to discuss terms

It looks like Jeff won't be able to make it to the first two rounds at Brands Hatch. Kev will be there flying the flag so feel free to come down and watch at probably the best facility in the country.

Well, we still wait to see if Jeff is going to make a full recovery from his injuries last season in time for this season. Keep your fingers crossed !

Mallory race reports are now in the results section and photos in the gallery. A mixed bag of luck but the support was superb as usual. Looking forward to seeing as many as possible for the crucial cadwell meeting
18th April '07 Kev's engine has been given the all clear after the tumble at Croft. A loss of oil pressure was detected by the fabulous chaps at SPODMoto Engineering, as an air lock, probably casued as the bike rolled about upside down. Now back in tip top shape with no damage internally, it gets a shakedown at Castle Combe on Monday 23rd then we hit Mallory (not literally I hope) running on the 29th

Jeff's engine was professionally rebuilt by SPOD Engineering over the winter after mechanical breakdown during the last round of the 2006 season at Cadwell Park. Since then, a full race exhaust system has been added and the bike was in need of a dyno set up to balance the air/fueling/carbs. New main jets and needle adjustments were needed. The morning spent with Steve at Motrac in Ellesmere Port was very productive. My ageing R1 saw a healthy increase in power from mid 130's bhp to 145 bhp. I just need to use the power now......!!!!!.

Kev's Mallory race report is now in the results section. Jeff's will follow asap ad will the photos. A mixed bag of luck for the lads, as usual the support was tremendous!!!
26th March '07
Kev's bike was dyno'd today with a pleasing increase in BHP, up to 164, with a custom map courtesy of Steve Hammond at Motrac. Not bad at all for an old girl.
Click here to take a look at the impressive results Steve got!The fairings have finally been painted and everything is falling into place-at last! Check back for the results of Jeff's dyno runs on Tuesday 27th.

Update from the test session at Oulton Park.
A productive test session by Kev and Jeff, the morning was spent running engines and brakes in so no records were in danger of being broken. The afternoon saw the pace increase to near race times with no incidents to report. Kev was hampered by a long standing knee injury that now looks like surgery is required again to resolve it. Kev and Jeff's bikes are due to be mapped/set up at Motrac in Ellesmere Port before the Croft meeting at the end of the month. If you are planning on joining us at croft, log onto the forum and tell us your travel plans so we can synchronise travel arrangements.

Great news! We now have Jeffs bike back from the paint shop all nice and shiny in the new 2007 team colours. Let's hope Jeff keeps it that way.

SPODMoto Racing was formed in the autumn of 2006 with high aspirations.
The team has come a very long way since the early days when Jeff Dobson, Kev Sweeney and Adrian "Chippie" Wood started their own respective teams racing in 2003.
The team's philosophy is one of developing talented and committed youngsters alongside our experienced riders to help realise their true potential. Since 2003 our riders have raced with Derby Phoenix, Wirral 100 and the National New Era clubs in the 600cc and Powerbike series. Our ambition is to continue racing at Club and National level and to ultimately run our own Superbike team.
Our year starts with winter testing where we can develop new bike set-ups. These sessions are an invaluable start to a new season not only getting used to the new machinery and/or parts but also time for the team to interact with new members and develop our racing family. During the rest of the year we continue testing at all the major circuits across the country.
Our racing calendar starts at the end of March and goes through to the end of September, racing in the popular Derby Phoenix Road Racing Championships at the country’s world famous circuits, such as Brands Hatch, Donington Park, and Oulton Park, and this year we'll be returning to Anglesey with its fabulous new layout.
Our custom-fitted race transporter is part of our extensive range of support equipment to back up our team of riders and mechanics. The transporter accompanies the team to all meetings, and not only provides a well equipped mobile workshop, but also includes living accommodation and the all important social focus. We also provide a hospitality area for the use of team and sponsors.
Finally, we hope you enjoy our website and be sure to check back regularly for updates on all the seasons racing action and the teams' antics. Let us know what you think.
See you at the track!
